Blink 06:27
I hide, up here behind the spotlight Unwelcoming eyes, imposing on me tonight Will my array, leave you a lasting impression I’m here to say, I won’t add to that If we weren’t so far apart We’d be grasping arm in arm But the room just looks away… when I say I know – What you want I know – What you need I know – What you see When I look at you I know – What you think I know – Why you bleed I know – When you blink I disappear from view I lied. A taste of the life is alright I’m still in the fight. I still see the black from the white If you have changed, I must appear lost in the labyrinth So evenly spaced… to you, but I won’t take your map Can somebody tell me Can somebody Can somebody tell (me when I’m just like everybody!) BREAKDOWN

Iron Bed 03:10
“Look,” she said to me “You can only go so high When you’re falling down below Where the nightmares like to go They can grip you from both sides Never leave you in the night They invite you in to share So unwilling in their care” I must go “Won’t you come with me I quest for the iron bed Lock us safe until we’re dead Where no evil can control We could sing and never cry With no horror of this life Just the iron that you see Guarding only you and me” I must go “Come beneath my wing” Was the last of what she said As she held her hands to me

If I know, can I stop the bomb from falling before I go If I wait, can I change the meaning of every word you say If I choose, to light the way with open hearts I lose If I fight, it only proves to everyone you’re right Hold on – One more second please Hold on – To you I would concede If you only knew what’s keeping me away Hold on – to nothing I can save If I lead, Can I stand up to your war machine If I stay, will my presence make you look away If my hands, dig the graves for all those left to stand If I leave, it only proves how we would not succeed Like rats Parading down the street If I lead Parading down the street Like rats Parading down the street If I lead

Look Away 05:16
“Looks like we’re running out of road” He doesn’t know for sure if he could ever save her She says “This emptiness is old….” And he should look away, find another way to go “Before we’re lost I have to know will you someday forgive me? Or wish you left me on my own?” He holds her hand and won’t let go. The empty road behind them, He would never tell her so Yes, I Know – There’s nowhere to go Turn the lights Down at the end of the road Yes I know – no need for the show Turn the lights down at the end of the road “I’m getting colder every mile Can’t feel the rocky road or see the blinding daylight” Not even strength left to smile No sign to guide the way, or tell him if this road is right “Before we’re lost I have to say That I am ever grateful you stopped to carry me away” He holds her hand as though he’s brave. The empty road behind them, she would never know he failed He strains to catch her dying words Sit down beside the road, she is just a whisper His silence like the voice of hers She doesn’t need to know, there is no more rescue. A chill is starting to take hold. In darkness doubt returns, “is there something more I..?” He holds he her hand, gone so cold The empty road behind them, he sees the light beneath the sky…

Passenger 04:42
It might have been consequence In spite of the effort hangin’ ‘round I’m falling through helplessness Drowning in this, so lower bound I struggle with after alls The meter on points of no return In light of what could go wrong And knowing I should have been concerned Chorus Take me away from here To measure against something new Show me a life beyond what I’ve known from you If it’s so marginal I might have been blessed to follow blind Poised for the last to fall Ascending in absent state of mind Hands to tear up the ground The shovel, the weapon that I wield So gently, I come unwound Every thief begins to steal So head for the motor sign ‘Cause I’ll only be a little while Delight in my present mind Passenger waiting to arrive

I watched her sinking in the sand I touched her; I did not take her hand While my cup’s still filled with sand Guide me away I heard her calling out my name

I hear your voice in the distance Behind the mask thoughts turn against us Can we ignore When a push becomes falling I hear your voice in the distance I can accept where I’m running Through the alleyways to your echoes To find my change In the direction you’d show I still hear your voice in the distance Refrain Man struggles to find himself Turning towards somebody else Ignoring the greatness deep inside He turns and walks away (That stays locked away) Beyond the alleyways of your echoes Past the edge of this breach, I can’t follow From the void Where I know you were singing I no longer hear your voice in the distance Bridge Do you deceive me? Or can I not hear? Do you believe me? I’ve nothing to spare

about

Originally recorded in 2009 and pre-released in early 2010, "When a Push" was shelved after the band dissolved. Happy to bring it back from the edge of nothing, and we hope you enjoy it.

about

Despite the Blindness Edmonton, Alberta

Self-described as “…progressive…” & “…a mix of beauty and aggression…” Despite the Blindness is no doubt ambitious in what they seek. At times heavy and others soft and subtle, the band insists the music exists only to enhance the lyrics, which are filled with imagery that can be both heart wrenching and horrifying. ... more
